We reserve the right to remove posts and/or comments that contain blatantly dangerous advice. So we are having trouble with sending MIDI commands from our Ion (running Dec '17 software update) to QLab4 to trigger projection cues from the light board.

We've set everything on the Ion according to the EOS Family Show Control manual and everything in QLab according to QLab4 manual but with no luck. I feel like whatever we are missing is something stupid-simple. Setup is currently: Ion MIDI Out > MIDI Interface > Mac Mini running QLab. Ion: • MSC RECEIVE: DISABLED • MSC RECEIVE CHANNEL: 0 • ACN MIDI RX ID: 1 • MSC TRANSMIT: ENABLED • MSC TRANSMIT CHANNEL: 0 • ACN MIDI TX ID: 1 • ANALOG INPUT: ENABLED • RELAY OUTPUT: ENABLED QLab: In MIDI Settings panel MIDI Show Control is checked and Device ID set to 1.

My understanding at this point, with these settings, is that we should be triggering the QLab to fire every time the Ion takes a cue that exactly matches the cue number in QLab. Clearly I've missed something. Any suggestions or information are appreciated. Your MSC Transmit Channel is 0. Which I think is supposed to broadcast to all channels/device IDs but I'm not sure it does.

I would try changing MSC Transmit Channel to 1 (to match QLabs Device ID 1). Also make sure to set MIDI Cue List to 1 (assuming cue list 1, else set it to whatever cute list you are using) Just for clean up sake, Analog input and relay output have nothing to do with MIDI so you can disable them. If this doesn't work. Call ETC Tech Support. They are available on the weekend and someone will call you back within 5 minutes I believe. While you wait, the ETC forum has great info on the topic. I found probably 5 different threads on this subject alone.

Your cue numbers need to match. The ion will send a 'go' on cue (# of ion cue). QLab will fire the cue of the same number if everything is set up correctly. Is there any sort of status light on your midi interface.

To narrow down if this is a transmit or receive issue, take cues on the ion and see if a light blinks on the interface to show a status. Shpak english for economists and businessmen otveti. If it doesn't, something might be wrong in the ion.

If it does, there may be a issue in qlab. I usually forget to check the use MSC midi checkbox, but it sounds like you already verified that.
