Pagan idolatry in Bari’s Cathedral The medieval Cathedral of San Sabino in Bari, Italy, reveals a wonder of precision in architecture: every year on the summer solstice the sun projects the design of the rose window from the front wall of the building onto the central floor mosaic and, for a short time, the two designs become just one. This extraordinary mastery of both astrology and architecture has been praised as an expression of the high level of civilization of the Middle Ages. Through the centuries people have gathered on midsummer day at that Cathedral to admire the reproduction of this remarkable occurrence. Today, however, the progressivist clergy of Bari is twisting its significance. It is now giving the day an ecological bent by making a kind of ceremony for the adoration of the sun, as many pagan sects still do on the solstice. It is also promoting adoration of a tree as a way to worship ‘Mother Nature.’ In fact, as you can see on this page, on June 21, 2017, three young ballerinas wearing transparent dresses twirled around a tree placed inside Bari's Cathedral as if they were pagan vestal virgins, the priestesses of the Roman goddess of the hearth and its fire in ancient Rome. After that, an even more eerie ceremony took place.

Another female dancer, in a strange snake-like, skin-tight apparel performed sensual movements and invited some of those present to join the ballerinas in their cult of the tree. The local Bishop knows that he is pushing his career forward by allowing these initiatives.

A court in Serbia has sentenced one of the richest business tycoons in the Balkans to five years in prison on tax evasion charges. The court on June 20 found 70-year-old Miroslav Miskovic guilty of helping his son Marko Miskovic evade paying some 3 million euros ($3.4 million) in taxes linked to his road construction company. Marko Miskovic already has been sentenced to 3.5 years for the same offense. Miroslav Miskovic denies the charges. His lawyer Zdenko Tomanovic said the trial suffered under strong political pressure, adding that the defense team will appeal.
The businessman had close political ties to the late ruler Slobodan Milosevic and was once among the most influential people in Serbia. He created a business empire during Milosevic’s rule in the 1990s and managed to expand his business holdings after Milosevic’s ouster in 2000. In 2007, Miskovic’s wealth was estimated at $2 billion. His fortune is thought to have grown since then. Based on reporting by AP and Reuters.
